Energy Networks Innovation Conference 2020/21
The challenge
The Low Carbon Energy Networks Innovation Conference (LCNI) ran for 10 years and was a highly respected event amongst all the major energy network providers in the UK. In 2020 the event faced an unprecedented challenge in the form of a global pandemic which ruled out any possibility of an in-person event.
Clarity partnered with Simplify to win a competitive tender working with Energy Networks Association to design, market and manage this prestigious event as a virtual conference.
The solution
Clarity developed a digital marketing plan to attract registrations and keep delegates engaged in the build-up to the conference and during it. To achieve this we utilised a mix of organic and paid social media, email marketing and paid content.
We worked closely with Simplify to develop a new name and brand mark, now called the Energy Networks Innovation Conference, and create the assets required for the digital marketing campaign and branding of the online experience.
The virtual event was hosted over 2 days where participants could immerse themselves in a 3D virtual event space, connect with like-minded companies and delegates and watch a choice of engaging live and pre-recorded presentations. The event was also available on-demand allowing dissemination of knowledge and ease of viewing to the international audience.
The result
ENIC 20 was a great success. Despite the short time to launch and switch from physical only to a virtual event, we increased registrations and attendees from the previous year. Attendees came from 94 different countries proving the outreach to a truly global audience as possible with a virtual format.
We retained the contract in 2021, and at the height of ‘zoom-fatigue’, we significantly grew registrations and attendance again.
“It was the slickest virtual conference I’ve attended to date. Well done!”
Rob Greenoak, Kiwi Power
“I enjoyed the international input. It is good to celebrate success but also to recognise challenges”.
